Jered McGivern, who earned his doctorate of philosophy, biomolecular chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008, joined Lakeland's faculty in 2014.
McGivern is a science educator with broad experience in biochemistry, developmental biology, cell biology, microscopy, neurodegenerative disease, molecular biology, proteomics, histology and infectious diseases.
Prior to joining Lakeland, McGivern, who earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Saint Olaf College in Minnesota, was a post-doctoral fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin and was an adjunct assistant professor at Marquette University.
As a postdoctoral fellow, McGivern utilized pluripotent stem cells to study neuromuscular diseases. He was also active as a consultant with Milwaukee area biotech companies with a group of postdoctoral fellows at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
