Joshua Kutney, Ph.D.

Joshua Kutney joined Lakeland in 2005 and currently serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Prior to this position, he held the roles of Dean of the William R. Kellett School and Dean of the School of Humanities and Fine Arts, both at Lakeland.

A tenured professor, Kutney earned his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and teaches courses in academic and technical writing, educational philosophy, and critical thinking. He has presented and published on a range of topics related to the teaching and learning of writing.

In his community work, Kutney has developed academic programs for high school students; collaborated on literacy grants in Malawi, Africa; and partnered with local government to address the needs of the community's aging population. Kutney's service to the Lakeland community was recognized with the 2020-2021 Big Fish Award.
