Hard work pays off for three LU nursing students

Three Lakeland students will be entering Columbia College of Nursing this fall, and two of them have earned a scholarship to support their studies.

Brook Bignell, Ally Davis and Zyta Mueller will enroll at the Milwaukee-based school this fall. Lakeland and CCON work together to offer students a two-year + two-year bachelor of science in nursing. Students complete an associate’s degree at Lakeland, then transfer to CCON to finish their BSN.

Two students in the fall cohort are awarded a CCON 1901 Legacy Scholarship, and this year Bignell and Mueller were selected for the award. The scholarship, which celebrates CCON’s founding in 1901, goes to support students with high academic achievement who demonstrate financial need. Each student has to write an essay on one of two topics: Share your most memorable experience while attending CCON, or Why did you decide to become a nurse?
