Lakeland celebrates generosity of scholarship donors
Lakeland University celebrated student success and the donors who help make it possible Tuesday at the Scholarship Donor Recognition luncheon.
More than 170 donors, students and other guests gathered to thank the donors of these gifts of education. Lakeland has more than 150 scholarships created for students by individual, family and corporate donors.
Lakeland senior Kerstin Sauerbrei, recipient of several scholarships including the Alice K. Senty Scholarship, said her Lakeland experience has exceeded everything she dreamed of, thanks to the generosity of donors.
“It takes big hearts to help students, and that’s what you all have,” said Sauerbrei, who is majoring in marketing with four areas of emphasis, including two student designed.
Lakeland Trustee David Senty, son of Alice Senty, recalled his mother’s fondness for Lakeland from her days visiting the institution in the 1950s through her time serving as a member of the board of trustees.
Of the students taking classes full time at the main campus in Sheboygan County, 99 percent receive financial aid of some type, whether scholarships, grants or loans.
