2021 MLK Day Programming

Lakeland has a number of events and activities planned as part of a multi-day celebration of the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. We have also created a quiz that you can take below.

The schedule for MLK day programming includes:

January 18 - MLK Day

  • LU Chaplain Rev. Julie A. Mavity Maddalena, Ph.D., will host a virtual MLK Day service at noon via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81707936536.
  • Campus-wide scavenger hunt via a scavenger hunt app (details to come soon). Students and employees will need to download the app to participate. One student winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card, and one employee winner will receive Lakeland swag.

January 19

  • Rosa Parks & John Lewis Plaza Dedication ceremony, south Campus Center lawn, 11 a.m.
  • MLK Day lunch served by Dining Services, second floor of Campus Center.

January 20

  • Campus wide trivia. The winner of trivia will receive a gift card to the Daily Grind for two beverages of their choice.
  • To celebrate MLK's birthday, there will be cupcakes given out at the Lauer Center.
