International Student Forms

Many international students find an inviting academic home at Lakeland University. Students come from over 30 different countries, attracted by high-quality education, financial assistance offerings, respected faculty, Lakeland's extensive experience in supporting international students, full-time international student service programs and a welcoming campus.

All International applications are processed on a rolling basis. Fall semester begins in late August, Spring semester in mid-January.

Your application for admission and supporting credentials should be filed as early as possible to allow sufficient time to process your application, pay your SEVIS fee, apply for your visa, and arrange for transportation. The information and the documents you provide will be carefully examined.

International Student Scholarships

Upon earning admission, new international students can qualify for academic scholarships based on cumulative GPA – please refer to the “Undergraduate Admission Requirements” document above for transcript evaluation information. These scholarships are renewable annually based on satisfactory academic progress.

  • ≥ 3.0 GPA = $16,000/year International Presidential Scholarship
  • ≤ 2.99 GPA = $12,000/year International Dean’s Scholarship
  • LUJ to LUW Students = $18,000 Batten and Black Scholarship (per academic year)
    • Must have studied at LUJ for at least 2 terms

Undergraduate Applicants

TOEFL Exemption for Admissions

International students must demonstrate proficiency in English as one of the admission requirements for undergraduate admission. A minimum 500 on the paper-based TOEFL, 173 on the computer-based TOEFL [CBT] or 61 on the internet-based TOEFL [iBT] is required. The Test of English as a Foreign Language [TOEFL] is required for all applicants whose native language is not English.

Exempt from submitting TOEFL scores are applicants that have:

  • earned a high school diploma from a high school in the English education system in any English speaking countries/regions
  • completed a minimum one term of full time post secondary academic studies in the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand where English proficiency is required for admission
  • acceptable GCE Ordinary Level or Advanced Level results, GCSE results or acceptable test results of Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations [SSCE] by the West African Examinations Council,
  • been recommended by the Lakeland University approved ESL schools in the U.S. or by other institutions of higher learning with which Lakeland University has a signed agreement regarding this requirement, or
  • acceptable IELTS scores [minimum 6 for undergraduate or 7 for graduate admission]

Lakeland reserves the right to determine whether or not an admission test is required of an international applicant.
