In "Fish out of Water," noted autism advocate Russell Lehmann dives deep into the analogy of individuals with disabilities as "fish out of water" in society. This powerful session examines the root causes behind social inequities and explores how societal perceptions and systemic barriers contribute to the feeling of being out of place for those with differences.
Lehmann will be joined by a panel of experts and people with lived experience who will talk after his presentation.
Lehmann, who has delivered TEDx talks, is a contributor for Psychology Today and has a significant following on social media platforms, will break down the societal structures and attitudes that perpetuate exclusion and marginalization, offering a candid look at the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. However, this session is not just about identifying problems; it's about uncovering the potential for transformative change.
By highlighting the unique strengths and perspectives of those often seen as "different," Russell will demonstrate how these individuals are not only capable of thriving but also of driving societal progress. He will share inspiring stories and actionable insights, showing how embracing diversity can lead to innovative solutions and a more inclusive world.
There will also be a Q&A and book signing.
