The Life of a Lasting American in America

Latinx Heritage Week Speaker: Heather Montes Ireland, Ph.D.

Heather Montes Ireland, an assistant professor of Women's & Gender Studies at DePaul University, will give a talk entitled “The Life of a Lasting American in America.”

Students are welcome to bring their own lunch or get some Latin food through the line for a meal swipe, but this is not required to attend the convocation.

Montes Ireland studies race, gender, class and sexuality in global economic, finance and labor systems through interdisciplinary and intersectional methods.

She has worked extensively with students of color, first generation and LGBTQ students in various capacities and centers underrepresented students in her teaching and mentorship practices.
