Lakeland partners to create Black History celebration in February

Lakeland University is partnering with Black American Community Outreach (BACO) to present a Black History Celebration entitled Essence of the Labor Movement: Things your History Teacher Didn't Teach.

The event is Saturday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. at the Weill Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Sheboygan. A pre-event reception will begin at 5 p.m. The event is not ticketed and free for the community.

The event will feature celebrate Black history with a collaborative community showcase led by Master of Ceremonies and Lakeland graduate Rodney Ellison.

A keynote address will be delivered by Judge Derek Mosley, director at Marquette University Law School – Lubar Center for Public Policy Research & Civic Education.

BACO is a community-based organization created to empower, educate, promote and support the Black culture and the Sheboygan community members by creating accessibility to resources and tools for better economic growth, academic success, employability skills and volunteerism.
