Students will be empowered to create, develop, manage, and lead business ventures while developing into the next generation of emerging leaders. These powerful experiences are part of a campus-wide initiative that instills an entrepreneurial mindset that is applicable across all majors.
Launch helps transform Lakeland students into the next generation of innovative leaders by providing experiential and entrepreneurial learning opportunities that prepare students for diverse careers in a multi-faceted world.
Lakeland students are currently running the following businesses:
Elementastic offers after-school programs, interactive science shows, birthday parties, in-school field trips, as well as public and company events performed by Launch student workers.
Programs are designed to nourish children’s curiosity by providing hands-on, engaging experiments that provide insights and understanding while being fun and entertaining. Children are encouraged to observe, try, ask questions, and be surprised.

The new Campus Shop's purpose is to provide the Lakeland community with quality merchandise and memorable service through continued innovation and eco-friendly practices, matched with a skilled Lakeland student workforce, to ensure a seamless shopping experience that will be the cornerstone for Launch's financial success.
The online Campus Shop is aimed to open this summer, and the 1,000 square foot brick-and-mortar store, located in the Wehr Center lobby, before fall semester.

Sheboygan Memorial Day Parade:
Sheboygan's Memorial Day celebration is a collaboration between United States Veterans and active-duty personnel, the City of Sheboygan, and Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses. Kohler Credit Union is sponsoring the parade. The parade will be held on Monday, May 31, 2021 in downtown Sheboygan starting at 9:00 am with a ceremony to follow at Fountain Park.

Blasters Golf Outing:
For over three decades, the Lakeland University Golf Tournament: The Blasters has brought together civic-minded business leaders and proud Lakeland University alumni for a fun-filled day of top-notch golf and warm, genuine camaraderie. Become a part of the tradition and the fun that is The Blasters!
Proceeds will directly benefit Launch: Student Run Businesses students and new business development.
The Blasters will take place June 18, 2021 at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, WI.

Sheboygan Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament:
Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses will be planning one of Sheboygan County's most popular summer events, the 2021 Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
Sheboygan's Gus Macker will be held July 31 and Aug. 1, 2021, at the Harbor Centre Marina on the Lake Michigan shoreline. This will be the 26th year the Macker is being held in Sheboygan.
The two-day tournament is open to players of all ages and abilities for a weekend spent on the basketball court and at the beach.
Lakeland is taking over planning the event from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County.

Road America Concessions:
Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses has partnered with Road America to run the concession stand at turn 12 for the upcoming racing season.
Road America is one of only a handful of road circuits in the world maintaining its original configuration of 4 miles in length and 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph may be reached.
Road America's open seating allows spectators to venture throughout the grounds. Grandstands are available in several locations, as well as permanent hillside seating where crowds of more than 150,000 can be accommodated.
The Lakeland concession stand is located at Turn 12 located off the track but with track access. The menu will be created by LU dining services and all ordering and pre-race weekend arrangements handled by the Launch team member, Road America Manager.
The stand will sell food, non-alcoholic beverages and beer.

Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses encompasses five divisions.
The Hospitality Division will provide outstanding customer service and satisfaction while adapting to consumer needs. The businesses to be run under the hospitality division will be: The Daily Grind (coffee shop), The Muskie Mart (grocery and convenience store), athletic department concessions and facility rental and event planning (internal and external).
The Nonprofit Division will provide local nonprofit agencies with temporary and/or long-term staff at little to no cost. The goal is to increase the effectiveness of local nonprofit organizations by providing outstanding students to fill administrative and professional roles or customized projects or events. Additionally, this division’s team works with area nonprofits as they consider consolidating resources to improve efficiencies and collaboration for greater impact in the community. Some of the nonprofits currently being served by Lakeland University are The Above & Beyond Children’s Museum, The Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts, the Boys & Girls Clubs and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
Property Management & Land Development Division
The Property Management & Land Development Division manages a university-owned rental property and assists in the development of other university assets.

Co-Op Marketing Intern
Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra
Assist with planning and implementing all aspects of the organization’s marketing and advertising campaign by managing social media and newsletter content and schedule, design concert posters, distribute promotional materials, publish event info, write press releases, assist with analytics, assist with fundraising, and contact program advertisers.
Estimated Salary: $10/hr.

Elementastic Workshop Instructor
Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses
Perform science demonstrations to groups of children in after-school programs, in-school classroom visits, birthday parties, and summer programs.
This is a sporadic position, meaning you may have another primary on-campus paid position and work occasionally for Elementastic, as long as you stay within 20-hours (school year) or 40-hours (summer). Remember, you may also hold an off-campus job, which allows this job to be a great additional income opportunity.
Work 2-3 1-hour sessions per month based on your schedule. Note: positions available all year.
Wage: $20/hr PLUS paid drive time!

Meet Lakeland University’s student executives who will shape and operate the institution’s new student-run business operation. These students will create, develop, manage and lead both on-campus and off-campus business ventures while assisting in developing the next generation of emerging leaders who will be positioned for post-graduation employment.
Chief Marketing Officer
Amanda Brandt, of Kiel, Wis., will serve as Chief Marketing Officer and is responsible for successfully developing and implementing marketing strategies to help achieve the student-run businesses (SRB) objectives.
Amanda is on track to graduate in May of 2022 with a double major in business administration and marketing. Following graduation, she hopes to work as a manager in a marketing or communications department for a local business.
Her main goal is to use her communication skills to grow SRB and be a part of and a reason for its growth and success.
Amanda also is involved at Lakeland in Spanish Club, Enactus, and ELSA. She enjoys playing tennis, going to concerts and movies, and traveling.
President of Property Management & Land Development
Brian Brickham, of Egg Harbor, Wis., will serve as President of Property Management & Land Development and is responsible for managing the university-owned rental property and assisting in the development of other university assets.
Brian is on track to graduate in May of 2022 with a marketing major with sales management and Cooperative Education emphases and a communication minor. Following graduation, he hopes to find a marketing or sales position in the aviation industry, specifically the business aviation sector.
Brian’s main goal
is to help grow the university-owned rental property and develop a solid foundation for other university assets.
“I’m a people person, and I thrive on conversation and getting a bunch of great minds together to talk through and solve problems,” Brian said. “I genuinely enjoy meeting people and figuring out how we can all work together to advance our mutual goals.”
Brian is the former president of Student Government Association (SGA). He
enjoys camping, golfing, disc-golfing, flying, cooking,
binge-watching Netflix and Hulu and working on home-improvement
Emily Bringer, of Round Lake, Ill., serves as Elementastic Manager and is responsible for coordinating employees and booking shows.
She is on track to graduate in 2022 with a degree in business administration with an emphasis in human resources. Her career goal is to work in the human resources department for the Chicago Cubs baseball team.
Emily’s main goal is to make sure each event meets everyone's expectations and build her experience to position herself for post-graduation success. She lists communication and positivity as two of her primary strengths.
She is a member of the women’s volleyball team at Lakeland, and in her free time she likes to play volleyball with friends and spend time with her family.
Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer
Curtiss Dokey, of Manitowoc, Wis., will serve as the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer and is responsible for identifying and implementing internal and external Lakeland student-run business (SRB) opportunities for financial growth.
Curtiss is on track to graduate in May of 2022 with an accounting major. He will be searching for a job in tax, and one day hopes to own his own tax firm.
His main goal is to use his financial skills to lay the foundation of this program so it can create more jobs for students and more opportunities for Lakeland and the community for many years.
“I enjoy thinking of new ideas and going a step further and finding out how much that idea costs, how feasible is it, and most importantly, how it makes money,” Curtiss said.
At Lakeland he is
also involved with accounting club, fraud committee and the
Cooperative Education program. He also enjoys the company of friends
President of Merchandising
Sydney Pingitore, of Kenosha, Wis., serves as President of Merchandising and is responsible for leading the development of the Launch Campus Shop business and operational plans and the opening of a new online and brick-and-mortar store.
Sydney is on track to graduate in May of 2022 with a marketing degree and Co-Op and retail management emphasis areas. Following graduation, she hopes to be regional or district manager for an athletic company like Nike, lululemon, Puma, etc. She ultimately aspires to own a retail franchise.
Sydney brings a background in retail to the team, and she plans to help generate revenue for Lunch while gaining more experience in the retail industry by starting a business from the ground up that will create more job opportunities for Lakeland students.
Sydney has held multiple campus jobs including accounts payable assistant, reading teaching specialist, Blue & Gold Champion and junior admissions counselor. She is also a member of the LU volleyball team. In her free time she likes to shop, hangout with her best friends and play volleyball.
John A. Putnam
President of the Nonprofit Division
John A. Putnam, of Plymouth, Wis., serves as President of the Nonprofit Division and manages day-to-day operations of Lakeland’s nonprofit relationships as part of Launch.
John plans to graduate in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and he hopes to become a forensic accountant for the U.S. Government.
John brings to his role knowledge in finances/accounting and problem-solving skills. His main goal is to achieve excellence through investing in Lakeland students and the surrounding communities by providing consistent, positive experiences and services through Launch.
John is involved in the Lakeland Jazz Band, Accounting Club and the Forensic Accounting Club. In his free time, he loves to read, play his instruments (he can play six different instruments), learn and hunt.
Ali Wilson of Lincoln, Ill., serves as an Event Planner and is responsible for organizing and producing a variety of internal and external events from conception to completion.
Ali plans to finish her bachelor's degree in sports management & leadership with emphasis in athletic coaching, athletic administration and hospitality management this May. She then plans to stay at Lakeland and enroll in the master of science in leadership & organizational development program.
After completing her master's, she plans to work at the collegiate level as a facility/event director or in a leadership position.
Ali plans to use her organizational and leadership skills to create exceptional events for all to enjoy and she wants to give back to Lakeland.
Ali also serves as captain of the LU women's golf team, president of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of National Society of Leadership & Success. In her free time, she enjoys watching sports, reading, spending time with friends and working out.
