Lakeland’s engineering technology program uses a combination of on-the-job learning through Lakeland’s Cooperative Education program and theory learned in the traditional classroom to develop problem solvers, critical thinkers and effective communicators who will work with engineers, managers, technicians and other areas. There is an emphasis on the ability to make ethical decisions to support a more efficient and safer workplace.
This degree is ideal for students who have completed an approved Associate’s Degree through one of the technical colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System.
For students who are already employed and being approached by their employer to transition into new roles, Lakeland’s program equips those students to acquire the skills needed to make those transitions.
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering Technology program focuses on applying scientific and engineering techniques to create new products, improve processes and solve real-world problems across various engineering fields.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a growing market for engineering technologists between 2022 and 2032, with 188,000 positions needing to be filled annually across the United States.
Conversations with local companies and information provided by the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation and the Wisconsin Center for Manufacturing and Productivity (WCMP) indicate there is a clear need for the program.

Lakeland's Engineering Technology degree is ideal for students who have completed an approved Associate’s Degree through one of the technical colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System. Students who have completed an approved A.S. or A.A.S. degree are eligible for a 20% tuition discount. You may apply at any time as Lakeland University operates on a rolling admission basis with 6 start dates throughout the year. Applications will be reviewed until about two weeks before the start of each term.

*Exceptions to the above admission criteria may be granted for students with a cumulative GPA range from 1.75 to 1.99 if the academic experience that resulted in the less than 2.0 GPA was more than two years ago. Furthermore, typically students with a cumulative GPA range from 1.50 to 1.75 will only be considered if the poor academic performance experience that resulted in the less than 2.0 GPA was more than five years ago. Students receiving an exception will be admitted conditionally.
