Join Prof. Manju Durairaj (Pedagogy Instructor), Prof. Alexandra Coghill (Movement Instructor) and Prof. Richard Lawton (Recorder Instructor) in this interactive webinar to learn more about Lakeland University’s Orff Schulwerk Certification program.
Lakeland’s Orff Schulwerk Certification program will be held July 10-21, 2023. Over the course of these two weeks, music educators will develop their personal musicianship skills, learn to create stylistically and age-appropriate arrangements, and experience pedagogical models appropriate for the elementary and middle school classroom that emphasize improvisation and creativity. This approach stresses the importance of developing a child’s body, ear, and mind as an integrated pathway to creative expression and comprehensive musicianship.
During this online seminar, Manju, Alexandra, and Richard will discuss what to expect in the courses they teach, the memorable and intensive two-weeks on-campus, and personal and the professional transformations students experience. Prof. Frank Gallo (Director of Graduate Music) will also review the other various programs Lakeland University offers to help prospective students decide which program will be the best fit for them. These programs include the Master of Music in Music Education – Kodály Emphasis degree, OAKE (Organization of American Kodály Educators) endorsed Certificate program, and many other non-credit workshop offerings including Exploring Hip-Hop Music Pedagogy, First Steps in Music, and Conversational Solfege –Lower Level, 21st Century Orff Schulwerk: Making Responsive Teaching and Collaborative Learning Visible, among others.
Webinar participants will be able to interact directly with Manju, Alexandra, Richard, and Frank, to ask questions about Lakeland University’s programs or other pedagogical topics.
This online seminar will be recorded. If you would like to listen to the webinar but cannot attend live, please register below. A link to the recording will be sent to your e-mail.
