Below is a list of upcoming convocation credit–giving events. For a full list of events, see the calendar of events.

All events are in the Bradley Theatre unless noted.

September 2023

  • 7 – Opening Convocation, 11 a.m.
    • featuring Jake Frias '10 '13 MAC, school counselor at Random Lake High School.
  • 14 – Active Shooter, 11 a.m.
  • 21 – CANCELED: Constitution Day Lecture, 11 a.m.
  • 22 – Bradley Gallery Visiting Artist Reception, 4:30–5:30 p.m. (exhibit open until Dec. 1)
    • Mark Weller.

October 2023

  • 9 – Indigenous Peoples' Day, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
  • 19 – Ben and Jerry's in Pajamas, 7 p.m. at Campus Center Event Space
    • This event focuses on Title IX discrimination and sexual misconduct information given in a presentation format. It is followed by Ben and Jerry's ice cream and a costume contest.
    • Counseling will provide information about discrimination and the mental health resources/capabilities Lakeland has for students and situations. Campus Safety will discuss their roles in these situations and what students can do with them to seek aid or how to report. Residence Life will provide explanations about the Clery Act, student handbooks and reporting.
  • 21 – Lakeland University Singers & Lakeland Chamber Winds Concert, 3 p.m.
  • 23 – Mission House Lecture, 6:30–8 p.m.
  • 26 – Fresh Check Day, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Campus Center Event Space

November 2023

  • 2 – Great Lakes Writers' Festival, 11 a.m.
  •  Student Panel on Gender & Sexuality, 6 p.m. at Campus Center Event Space
    • Lakeland students who are members of the LGBTQ community will present an interactive panel discussion on gender and sexuality.
  • 9, 10 & 11 - 7:30 p.m,, 12 - 2 p.m. – Fall play - PUFFS
    • “PUFFS” is a parody of all seven Harry Potter books told in roughly two hours through the eyes of the “Hufflepuff” house.
  • 13 – 6:30-8 p.m. – Ethics Conversation: "Finding Your Vocation for Social Justice" - Campus Center Event Space
    • The Rev. Rebecca Turner, pastor of Christ Church UCC in Maplewood, Mo., will deliver a talk entitled “Finding Your Vocation for Social Justice” on Monday, November 13, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Campus Center Event Space.
  • 20 – Powwow Demonstration, 5 - 7 p.m. at Campus Center Event Space
  • 21 – Music Department Recital, 11 a.m.
    • Featuring solo performances by Lakeland students in applied lessons for voice, piano, wind and string instruments.
  • 28 – Humanities & Fine Arts Colloquium, 11:15 a.m. (Campus Center Event Space)
    • Successful Lakeland graduates who majored in programs in Lakeland's Humanities and Fine Arts School return to their alma mater to share their stories and helpful tips for current students.
  • 30 – Business and Entrepreneurship Colloquium, 11:15 a.m.
    • Successful Lakeland graduates who majored in programs in Lakeland's business majors return to their alma mater to share their stories and helpful tips for current students.

December 2023

  • 1 – Science, Technology and Education Colloquium, 11:15 a.m.
    • Successful Lakeland graduates who majored in programs in the sciences, computer science and education return to their alma mater to share their stories and helpful tips for current students.
  • 2 – Christmas at Lakeland, 7 p.m.
    • Get in the Christmas mood with this annual concert of sacred and secular music by Lakeland's music ensembles.

February 2024

March 2024

  • March 1, 2 – 7 p.m., March 3 – 2 p.m. – Spring Musical: "Big Fish"
  • 5 – Founder's Day Lecture: Craig Ford, Ph.D., "Dreaming Courageously: Pope Francis' Vision for the 21st Century Catholic Church and the Challenge of LGBTQ+ Inclusion."
  • 26 – Convocation: "Writing in an Age of Despair" featuring author/journalist Lyz Lenz, 11:15 a.m.
    Lenz will speak about the power of stories and talk about her political writing and writing through the pandemic, as well as her journey as a writer. She will share why all stories matter, especially now. Her talk will be followed by time for questions.

April 2024

  • 5 – Bradley Gallery Reception: Annual Art and Design Student Exhibit, 4:30–5:30 p.m.
    • Students enrolled in Lakeland’s myriad of art courses show off their best works at this annual show. Find out who won this year’s awards. (Exhibit open until May 3.)
  • 13 – International Night, 7:30 p.m.
    • This annual celebration features LU students from all over the globe spotlighting their native customs and traditions in a fun, fascinating show.
  • 16 – Music Department Student Recital, 7:30 p.m.
    • Featuring solo performances by Lakeland students in applied lessons for voice, piano, wind and string instruments.
  • 17 – Undergraduate Research Symposium, 9:30 a.m.
    • Faculty and students share their academic research as part of this celebration of academic achievement.
  • 23 – Lakeland Spring Band Concert, 7:30 p.m.
  • 27 – Spring Choir and Orchestra Concert, 3 p.m.
